This effervescent young Geelong based business woman runs “Signature Flowers” specialising in weddings and events.
Zoe McMahon’s arrangements are particularly natural and lush. Zoe was heavily influenced from growing up on her parents rural property outside Geelong and her creativity was influenced by fossicking in sheds, working with flowers, shrubs and cuttings, whilst on the farm.
Zoe is driven by colour and has a particular skill towards co-ordinating complimentary colours and hues throughout floral arrangements and décor of whole events.
“I love colour”, says Zoe “and get so excited with seasonal colours and the changes they bring”.
Zoe sources her flowers locally, in particular peony roses, rununculi and alstroemeria from growers near Geelong and Colac. As well as this, there is the 4.00 am drive to the vibrant and diverse Melbourne Flower Market where she finds her all her best-loved flowers – hydrangeas, dahlias, cymbidium and phalaenopsis orchids, oriental lilies, rich coloured delphiniums, lisianthus and bouvardia, to name but a few.
After studying floristry at TAFE she has furthered her love of this through events with Dot Humphreys of Gollings florists and The Singapore Flower and Garden Show where world wide designers exhibit. She also teaches floristry at Bacchus Marsh Community College (The Laurels).
After making her decision to go solo, Zoe loves the creativity of planning events and her floristry, and work with flowers remain her inspiration.
In the future, Zoe wishes to live on acreage and grow a small supply of flowers and foliage that are hard to come by locally.
