A Life in Design: My Creative Career
I’ve always believed that great design is about finding balance. Raised on a rural property outside of Geelong into a prominent fashion family, my childhood was split beautifully between the freedom of farm life and the fast-paced world of style. Heavily influenced by my mother, a living legacy, I launched my own label - a venture that allowed me to travel the world and sharpen my eye for texture, colour, and layering.
However, I am a country girl at heart. Eventually my love for nature called me back to the land.
Today, floristry is my world and my ultimate form of artistic expression. I’ve had the privilege of assisting international floral designers at both the Melbourne and Singapore Garden Festivals. I have also been very fortunate to be mentored by Dot Humphreys AIFD FDA, my inspiration and flower mother, who has opened the doors allowing me to work within international hotels across Melbourne. My background also includes working as an industry trainer throughout RTOs, where I focused on sharing technical skills and supporting those entering the trade.
While my retail outlet, The Red Poppy, keeps me connected to the community, my true passion lies at the drawing board - designing bespoke arrangements from scratch for corporate events.
I’ve always been a quiet achiever. I prefer to let the work speak for itself. Whether I’m harvesting a small selection of home-grown blooms from my garden or bringing a client’s unique vision to life, I am entirely in my element.
